Every domain availability checker is a registrar in disguise. Search for a domain on GoDaddy, Namecheap, or any other “free” checker and you'll get buried in premium domain upsells, “suggested alternatives” at inflated prices, hosting bundles, email plans, and SSL add-ons. The actual answer — is this domain available? — is hidden behind walls of affiliate-stuffed recommendations.
JustCheckDomain does one thing. You type a domain name, you get a yes or no. If it's taken, you see when it was registered, when it expires, who the registrar is, and what nameservers it's using. If it's available, we tell you to go register it at whatever registrar you already use. We don't sell domains. We don't have affiliate links. We don't even have accounts.
Domain lookups use RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol), the modern replacement for WHOIS. RDAP returns structured JSON over HTTPS — no raw sockets, no scraping, no API keys. For TLDs not yet covered by RDAP (like .io, .co, .me, .de, and .se), we fall back to raw WHOIS lookups over TCP port 43.
Results are typically returned in under 200ms. We cache “taken” results for 5 minutes and “available” results for 60 seconds to stay respectful to upstream servers while keeping data fresh.
Over 200 TLDs including .com, .net, .org, .io, .co, .dev, .app, .me, .de, .se, .uk, .co.uk, .xyz, .info, .biz, .tech, .online, .site, and many more. If a TLD has a public RDAP or WHOIS server, we support it.
Yes. No accounts, no payments, no hidden limits. This is a free tool built by the team behind OnePageStatus. We built it because we were tired of registrar-disguised domain checkers, and we thought other developers would be too.
No. We are not a registrar and we don't sell domains. When a domain is available, register it at whichever registrar you already use — Cloudflare, Namecheap, Porkbun, Google Domains, or anywhere else.
Because that's the problem, not the solution. Every other domain checker uses 'suggestions' as a funnel to sell you premium domains at inflated prices. You know what domain you want — we just tell you if it's available.
Lookups go directly to the authoritative RDAP or WHOIS server for each TLD — the same source registrars use. Results are as accurate as the registry data itself. Available results are cached for only 60 seconds to minimise the window where someone else could register the domain between our check and yours.
None. No cookies, no tracking, no analytics, no accounts. We don't log your searches. We don't store your IP address. The domain you search for is sent to the relevant RDAP or WHOIS server to check availability — that's it.
RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the modern successor to WHOIS. It returns structured JSON over HTTPS instead of unformatted text over raw TCP. Most major TLDs now have public RDAP servers published via the IANA bootstrap registry. For TLDs that haven't adopted RDAP yet, we fall back to traditional WHOIS.
